Our First Camping Trip

by Charlie & Shadow
Hi friends! It’s us — Charlie and Shadow. In August, our family took us on our very first camping trip in the new trailer. We went all the way to a campsite near Lincoln, Montana. From the second those wheels stopped rolling, we just knew it was going to be amazing.
Shadow here — I was the first to press my nose to the window. Pine trees, campfire smells, fresh mountain air… oh, it was heaven. Charlie’s ears perked up too, like she could already hear the creek calling us. The second that door opened, we bounded down the steps together.
And guess what? There really was a creek! A clear, rushing, splashing creek with rocks and little minnows darting through the water. I (Charlie) went charging right in, fearless. Shadow dipped a paw, then sneezed and backed up like the water had played a prank on her. But after I splashed her with my tail, she finally jumped in too. Soon we were both racing through the water, barking, snapping at bubbles, and making such a racket that a dragonfly zipped away from us in a hurry.
By the time the sun dipped behind the mountains, we were soaked, muddy, and the happiest pups you’ve ever seen. We trotted back to camp leaving paw-print art all along the trail.
That night, Shadow stretched out proudly on the puppy bed by herself, her dark nose twitching in her dreams. I (Charlie) tried the floor at first, but brrr — Montana nights get chilly! After a few shivers, I hopped up and curled right next to Dad on the bed. Warm, safe, and snuggled in, I sighed with happiness. Shadow gave her tail a lazy thump from her own bed, perfectly fine with having the whole thing to herself.
We drifted off to sleep listening to the crickets sing. Our first camping trip was a success — and we just know the creek will be waiting for us next time.
Love and wagging tails,
